The honeymoon is over

Don't get me wrong. I still love my new abode. My room is spacious. I have my own bathroom. My closet is like a gift from heaven. But last night I pulled into the garage and stepped out of my car to discover...a cockroach. I almost cried.

Laurie. One word: exterminator.
It's gotta happen. So what if one day your children are born with a few extra toes; you've gotta kill those roaches.
Anoint the area with a couple of can of Raid if you can't afford the real guy. And do this at least once a month. Door facings, window seals, etc.
You can win this battle!

I almost cried when I read this... well, not really. But that is my attempt to demonstrate compassion.

Bad news: Roaches and their embryonic progeny can pack themselves and make the move with you.

Good news: After moving roach-free from an apartment to a new house, I encountered 3-4 roaches, one an ROUS who met his maker after an "unfortunate incident" with a plummeting family size shampoo bottle. Since then, no roach sightings in over 3 years!

(It may have been Suave Apple, if that helps.)

Beth frightened me with the roach packing theory back in May when I had all of my boxes moved up from Texas. I think I'd been bragging about the lack of roaches in Calgary when she told me. And then I was in fear of finding one with every box I opened...

I had an ROUS climb out of a box I was unpacking when I lived with Troy... after jumping 3 feet in the air I searched for an hour to kill that sucker
