I'm an anomoly

I'm officially weird, according to a new study.

That's right, 95 percent of Americans have had premarital sex.

The good news for me is that 99 percent of Americans have sex by the age of 44. So I guess some time in the next 17 years I can expect to get lucky.

all those statistics are for premarital sex though... and the numbers are being questioned as to their vailidity... so hopefully when you say get lucky it will be because God has blessed you with a husband...

My co-worker sent this article to me out of the blue today. It turns out that when she read it she thought I would find it interesting that I'm apparently in such a minority. But I had no idea of her thought process and was wondering if she was trying to suggest I jump on the band wagon real quick before the wedding! :)

I'm too lazy to check, but does anyone know about the sample size or the population that was surveyed?

i too would be interested in the "n" along with a standard deviation or 95% confidence interval. these numbers may be completely inappropriate...then again they may be right but who could tell?

The 95 percent refers to people the number of people who have premarital sex. The 99 percent refers to the number of people who have sex by the age of 44 (whether married or not).

The sample size was 38,000 people. Of those, 33,000 were women. The information came from interviews conducted in 1982, 1988, 1995 and 2002 by the federal National Survey of Family Growth.

All of this information came directly from the article that I linked to.

I'm surprised the stat is so low. I guess they are also taking into account freaks of nature who aren't waiting because God told them to, but who would love to have sex if only they could get off of their computers and meet a real, live person.
