If you were falling,
then I would catch you.
If you'd need a light,
I'd find a match.
'Cause I love the way you say 'Good Morning'
and you take me the way I am.
If you are chilly,
here take my sweater.
Your head is aching,
I'll make it better.
'Cause I love the way you call me 'Baby'
and you take me the way I am.
I'd buy you Rogaine,
when you start losing all your hair.
Sew on patches
to all you tear.
'Cause I love you more than I could ever promise
and you take me the way I am.

This is how the story went:
I met someone by accident
It blew me away.
It was in the darkest of my days
when you took my sorrow and you took my pain.
You buried them away.
You dropped me off at the train station,
put a kiss on top of my head.
You watched me away.
Then you went on home to your skyscrapers,
your neon light and waiting papers
You call them home.
I woke up feeling heavy hearted.
I'm going back to where I started.
Morning rain.
Now though I wish that you were near,
that same old road that brought me here.
It's calling me home.
I wish I could lay down beside you when the day is done.
And wake up to your face against the morning sun.
But like everything I've ever known,
you'll disappear one day.
So I spend my whole life hiding my heart away.
I could spend my whole life hiding my heart away.
I met someone by accident

I'm broken down, not good enough.
The broken promises add up to twice their weight in tears, which I have caused.
I'm afraid to sink, I'm afraid to swim.
I'm sad to say I miss my friends, I know that I'm supposed to step away.
But they need me to stay
and keep a watchful eye on all my heroes and all their demons.
But who's going to break my fall when the spinning starts?
The colors bleed together.
And faith, was it ever there at all? And have I lost my way?
The path of least resistance is catching up with me again today.
Not today.
Not today!

If you had eyes like golden crowns
and diamonds in your fingertips
you'd waste it.
If shining wisdom passed your lips
and traveled to the ears of God
you'd waste it.
So I hate that you're overrated,
most revered and celebrated
because you're wasted.
And every time you close a door
and nothing opens in its place
you've wasted.
And when you speak the words you know
to those who know the words themselves
you've wasted.
Such a classic waste of cool!
So afraid to break the rules
in all the wrong places.

This is how it works:
You're young until you're not.
You love until you don't.
You try until you can't.
You laugh until you cry.
You cry until you laugh.
And everyone must breathe
Until their dying breath.
No, this is how it works:
You peer inside yourself,
You take the things you like
And try to love the things you took
And then you take the love you made
And stick it into
Someone else's heart
Pumping someone else's blood
And walking arm in arm
You hope it don't get harmed
But even if it does
You'll just do it all again.
You're young until you're not.
You love until you don't.
You try until you can't.
You laugh until you cry.
You cry until you laugh.
And everyone must breathe
Until their dying breath.
