Total Loss

It's official. My car is totalled. I don't yet know how much money I'll get for it, but the tow company is coming out tomorrow to pick it up. I've been advised by my insurance agent to start shopping for a new car now because I'll probably have my settlement check within three days. So now I have a dilemma on my hands. I don't want to go car shopping alone. But I also want to very carefully choose my car shopping companion. This is a big decision.

I took my friend Mac w/ me to look at my jeep. We test drove it together and both loved it, but he said to play it cool. As soon as we got out of the car, he yelled out to the salesman, It was great!!

I'm pretty much a car queen if you need help. I'm good at looking at engines and features and blue book value as well as reliability and safety features. I like cars.

I'd say use CarMax if you can. Unless you want a brand new ride.

It's going to be okay. God's got it.

If you're looking for new cars, the Houston Auto Show starts this weekend. You could save some time and get down to your 'short-list' pretty quick there.

Ah yes, when someone chose to pummel me on I-10 and kill my car, I went shopping with my dad and brother (pretty much the best two EVER when it comes to cars). The only problem with that is that I look like a teenager, so half of the dealers talked only to my dad 'cause they thought he was buying me my first car or something :P

If you decide to go with either a Mazda or a Nissan, Mossy Nissan and Jeff Haas Mazda on the Katy Fwy are AMAZING! I have had really good experiences with both (multiple times). If you decide on a Honda, well... heaven help you because the dealers are awful.

If you shop for a Mini Cooper, beware of the speed bumps!

I saw two red mini coopers in the last 24 hours. I think it's a sign.

I think you should go for a mini cooper! BUT DO NOT GO INTO DEBT FOR IT! I was very happy to hear that you were out of debt a few weeks ago but dont let debt creep back in.

my advice: pray before you buy a new car! Pray God will give you favor with the salesman and pray for God to provide something in your budget!

I prayed a dollar amount and He provided when I got my car! The salesman took $3800 off when I went back the second time.

Laurie, this makes me sad. I feel a special connection to silver Saturns everywhere... but especially to yours since I tried to steel if from you once. It will take me a while to get used to not knowing if you are at a given party simply by whether or not I see your car parked out front. I suggest you go with a white Mazda 6. I'm just sayin'...

I have clearly not been keeping up with QQ, so you will have to tell me what happened to the car this weekend...
