I had an interesting conversation with a guy friend on Saturday. We were talking about the reasons that some women may be particularly intimidating to men. For example, many men are intimidated by incredibly beautiful women. They may consider the woman to be "out of their league" or simply presume they'll get shot down if they ask her out. After all, why would a goddess want to go out with a mere mortal?
There's another group of women that can be intimidating. It's the girls who are strong-minded, independent thinkers with clear opinions. They're women who aren't afraid to speak their minds. They don't back away from debate and are willing to challenge others. This can be very intimidating. I told my friend I suspect I fall into this group.
He quickly set me straight. "Actually," he said, "when I first met you, I wasn't intimidated by you. I just got the impression that you knew exactly what you were looking for...and I wasn't it."
Wow. Just what I need. Apparently I give the impression that all you guys should just go ahead and eliminate yourselves from being candidates because if you don't, then I will.

Laurie. Laurie. Laurie. My precious, Flamin' Larry.
Do not base your entire perspective of men about yourself on the remarks of one male who confessed insecurity to you.
Oh my goodness? Am I defending men?
A certain woman (whose blog you secretly stalk) was once considered to be an untouchable (not in the MC Hammer sense) by other guy friends in her life. From your reading, I'm sure you see that the man who married her and pursued her (when everyone else was afraid of the challenge) is indeed quite special himself.
Who is strong enough to be Laurie's man?
(my new criteria for men is "Who is strong enough to kill a roach?")
