I'm losing my funny

It's happening. I've been trying to fight it. I've been trying to avoid it. I keep telling myself it just can't be. But I can't run from the truth any longer. I'm not as funny as I used to be. I don't know when the downward spiral started. I suspect it may directly correlate to the number of roaches in my life. My funny meter was still full when I moved into the hellhole. It seems to have steadily dwindled since then. (Random observation: I like the word "dwindled.") I collect funny people around me, which makes me seem funny. But I have a sinking feeling that I'm not as funny as people think I am. I fear my funniness is all a ruse. I'm just a foil for the funniness of others. Even the "Friday Funnies" are quotes that other people said; none of them come from me. If the trend continues, there is great potential that I could become downright boring and un-in-ter-est-ing. Blech.

"Funny" is a relative concept. Perhaps your problem is the fact that you "collect funny people around" you. If you surround yourself with boring and uninteresting people, then you will surely the funniest person in the group.

But that would be sad. You wouldn't be hanging out with me or any of the rest of us that are just stinkin' hilarious.

So I guess I shouldn't point out that you do hang out with Troy a lot more now...? I'm sure that fact and you being less funny are mutually exclusive. Surely...

Ouch. That was mean. I'm sorry and I apologize. But not enough to erase it.

I'm not sure if that was a hit against Troy or against me or against both of us.

And people say Kristen is the sweet one...

I think it was a two-fer. She got you both like that dude from France got the dude from Italy yesterday in the World Cup Final.

I call a red card on Kristen... she should be banned from the blog world for 48 hours.

I seem to remember an email exchange with you that involved tambourines with streamers, spandex, tutu-wearing, and whirling...all of which ended as a spent heap on the floor. I thought (and still think) that was stinkin' hilarious!

Darling, go ahead and lose your funny. Give it to God, and let Him grow your gift of funny. It's a funny you'll never lose. A funny wrapped with joy and a funny that doesn't wound, but only heals. Who knew funny could be so deep? :)

Laurie- It is okay to lose the funny. Funny is not cute. Guys say girls are "funny" when they can't say they are cute or pretty. Lose the funny. You are too sexy for it.

Shanna - are sexy and funny mutually exclusive?
