Call Me Lawrence

I got something in the mail yesterday...it was junk mail addressed to "Lawrence Johnson". Splendid. People already have a difficult time simply pronouncing my name (it's Law-ree, not Lorree) and I have already been dubbed "Larry" by the inimitable Bailey. So why not go ahead and throw Lawrence into the mix? Lawrence E. Johnson. Makes me sound like a middle-aged black man.

In other news...I paid $1.98 per gallon for gasoline this morning! Now there's something to be thankful for. ;)

Actually, Lawrence E. JACKSON would make you sound more like a black man. Johnson is iffy, but Jackson...goes along with Washington, Lincoln, Jefferson...all those old presidential names. ;-)

Congrats on the gas find, what a blessing!

Girl, if that's all you're getting called, you shouldn't be complaining! :)

Miss you!

I definitely empathize with you...I've endured almost every name joke there is :). My name is a boy's name if spelled differently, which people quite often do...as they are ignorant to the fact that Aaron is a boy and Erin is a girl. And if that isn't enough, it often gets changed to Eric. And then there's my last name...

(But I did get off better on the Bailey nicknames)

Don't...even...get...me...started!

Hopefully it goes without saying that I COMPLETELY ditto Erin.

I actually worked with a man named Erin (yep, spelled the girl way) when I was at E&Y. Now that was confusing. Since we worked on the same engagement, they started calling us "Big E" and "Little E." I said I would only accept those nicknames if I got to be "Little E." He had no problem with that.
