And the days are not full enough

And the days are not full enough
And the nights are not full enough
And life slips by like a field mouse
Not shaking the grass

I don't know, my days have been more than full enough lately.... starting my days at 5:20 and ending them any time between 10 and midnight have me feeling more like the mouse running on its little wheel... :-)

Hopefully I didn't spoil the deep, meaningful message of poetry with my sarcasm... :-P

I think you actually sort of proved the point of the poem -- your days are busy but are they full? There is a difference.
Are we filling our days with meaningful, eternal things that we carry as cherished moments and memories? Or are we just rushing and going all the time and letting life slip by like a tiny creature, unnoticed in the grass?

Sorry, had to take it deep again. ;)
